What is Podcasting?
You ask, what is podcasting and why is there music playing on this page? Well, with podcasts, audio is exactly what you get! Subscribing to a Podcast is basically the same as subscribing to an RSS feed, except along with the feed comes an attached or enclosed audio or video file for the reader to download and have ready for you to play locally on your computer or MP3 Player whenever you want.
Why should I subscribe?
Subscribing to a Podcast is basically the same as subscribing to an RSS feed, except along with the feed comes an attached or enclosed file for the reader to download and have ready for you to play locally on your computer or MP3 Player whenever you want. You can always just play our Homilies or other audio or videos directly from our website by streaming them, but if you want a local copy to play anytime or anywhere, then it would be good to subscribe to our podcast, since these are rather large files and take some time to download. A podcast reader can do this automatically for you and have it ready for you when want it.
How do I get it?
By clicking on the green podcast icon above, or the green podcast icon on the right sidebar, you can subscribe to our podcasts. Please note, not all readers or aggregators will download the audio or video file for you, they may just stream it like our website does. You will want to subscribe using software that has podcast abilities such as iTunes, Mediamonkey, or Juice that will download our podcasts automatically in the background for you.
If you use or are familiar with iTunes or Mediamonkey then we suggest you use these. However, if not we suggest Juice, since it is simpler and more straight forward to learn. Just enter our URL Feed address in one of these programs to subscribe. Copy and enter the following address to your program:
http://www.prairiecatholic.org/pcpodcast1.xml
That's it. Thanks for using our feed!
